Noise Testing and Commissioning Noise Surveys

We have the expertise and experience to undertake all types of noise testing, including in-plant noise levels for onshore and offshore installations, power stations and other industrial facilities, fenceline monitoring, monitoring at adjacent noise-sensitive receptors and Factory Acceptance Tests.

Commissioning noise surveys are often required as part of the acceptance process for large Projects and measured noise levels are compared against Contractual requirements.  These requirements can be complex and multiple different measurement standards and contractual limits may apply.

In-plant noise limits are often specified for occupational noise exposure, to allow personnel to work without the need to wear Personal Hearing Protection (PHP). In addition, separate noise levels are often specified for specific rooms/work areas, such as where concentration is required or communication is critical.

Environmental noise may well be an issue and noise measurements may be required at the fenceline, at adjacent noise-sensitive receptors or it may be necessary to establish the sound power level of the entire plant of facility.

Finally, noise limits may have been set for individual items of equipment in terms of sound pressure and/or sound power limits.  Individual equipment items/packages may be measured either during the commissioning phase of the project, or during Factory Acceptance Tests.  We have in-house sound intensity equipment meaning that we can determine sound power levels in challenging environments (such as when multiple equipment items are present or the environment is reverberant).

In addition, we can measure the coverage and intelligibility of Public Address and emergency alarm systems.
