AECL has recently invested in a portable sound intensity measurement system.
The measurement of sound intensity is a very useful measurement technique for a variety of situations, especially where there are high background noise levels, which need to be excluded. For a description of sound intensity click here. The system is battery operated and highly portable allowing measurements to be undertaken in a wide variety of locations.
Having the in-house capability to measure sound intensity allows AECL to respond quickly to requests for surveys and shortens mobilisation times.
The system has already been used in earnest during our recent noise survey work in Qatar and Norway.
